A)
Distance Learning Programme - £225
How
does it work?
This
programme can be done via the Internet. Once you've completed your application
and been accepted onto this programme we'll send you the first unit
of work to your e-mail address, as an attachment. There is one written
assignment with the first unit. You'll send your first assignment to
us. It will then be marked by your PERSONAL tutor who will e mail you
the feedback and your grade together with the following unit of work.
We progress together to Unit 3, at which point we'll set you up with
your teaching observations, at the most convenient/nearest TEFL school
or college to your postal address.
This
can be organised for you anywhere in the world.
Each unit will inform and inspire you, imparting knowledge, building
your skills and confidence levels, 'bringing out the teacher in you'.
We provide you with a thoroughly practical bibliography together with
a list of essential websites to visit, enabling you to borrow ideas
from some of the best TEFL resource sites on the web. In the final Unit
of work, we'll arrange your teaching practice sessions and we'll assess
your overall performance to grade your certificate, which will be sent
to you via the traditional post, to any location in the world.
Our
programme is one of the most authentic distance learning courses you'll
find. The programme is thorough and totally geared towards a successful
outcome for the participant, and is being used to help our students
find work all over the world.
How
long will the course take?
The
Distance learning programme can take from 4 weeks to a few months depending
on what other demands the student has in his/her life. For each assignment,
students will be required to either write an essay or carry out some
factual research, sourcing information from publications/libraries/internet.
Practical assignments require the planning of lessons, using materials
to produce teaching aids, exploring the use of T.V, video, games and
other media in creating practical lessons in the teaching of the four
skills i.e. Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Students will be encouraged to contact their local evening class institute
or local authority college/private school, in order to set up some teaching
observation or practice. A.L.S. will assist all students in this process.
This can also be done for residents outside the U.K

The A.L.S.
TEFL Certificate can be used to help gain employment almost anywhere
in the world.
Past students
of Albany Language School have commented on our 'in depth programme',
our 'fair prices' and 'quality assignments' with professional back up.
How can I achieve the A.L.S. Certificate in the Teaching
of English as a foreign language?
You
do not need formal qualifications to apply, but once accepted you will
need to complete your assignments, which will be marked by members of
the teaching panel, all of who are experienced graduate, bilingual T.E.F.L.
or professional language practitioners.
The assignments will cover such topics as: -
Lesson
planning and course development • Interactive teaching skills
in reading,
writing, speaking and listening • Classroom management •
Student and Teacher
profiles • Background to English grammar • Confidence building
• Classroom materials, video, role playing and mime and eliciting
skills • Planning, production and presentation.
Your assignments
can be sent to A.L.S. via e-mail. In this respect you can start and
finish your T.E.F.L. programme from anywhere in the world. For people
who might live in very isolated locations, not serviced as yet by the
internet, we can run the Distance Programme (A) via the traditional
postal service, but its less secure and a lot slower.
Once you
have achieved the necessary standards in order to be awarded the A.L.S.
Certificate in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language, you will
be quite at liberty to place the letters 'Cert T.E.F.L.' after your
name.
